Ecosep SL Series Oil/Water Separators
Overview
Condensate is the liquid formed from water vapour in the air as a result of a drop in temperature and/or an increase in pressure. This liquid water mixes with atmospheric hydrocarbon contaminants as well as oil carried over from lubricated compressors to form an acidic oily sludge. A 1000 SCFM compressor operating at 100 PSIG, in 20°C (68°F), 65% RH environment can produce up to 58,000 gallons (219,000 L) of oil contaminated condensate per year.
Compressed air condensate usually contains far more than 20 mg/L of oil. There are two possibilities. One can have the condensate taken away by a special waste disposal firm at a considerable cost. Alternatively, one can process the condensate on site by separating the oil and the water. Zander's Ecosep oil-water separators offer compressed air users a simple and economical solution to achieve an oil content in water of 10 mg/L or less, which can be safely discharged into an effluent system.
