About ColorGuard™ Systems from Air Sentry

Air Sentry breathersWhen it comes to contamination control in your facility’s operations, it’s important to maintain the immediate identification of contents in order to prevent cross- contamination. Not only does this streamline maintenance, but it eliminates the potential for multiple issues.

ColorGuard™ adapters from Air Sentry efficiently identify a reservoir’s contents and keep them contained. The innovative, anodized color-coding system is available in eight distinct colors, and various models are available to suit your facility’s operations.

  • Drum Adapter Kits allow fluid handling through one adapter while maintaining the storage container integrity. Air Sentry breathers can be installed on any storage tank or drum.
  • Hydraulic Reservoir Adapter Kits allow breathers to be installed on any hydraulic fluid tank or reservoir. The aluminum adapters have quick connects in two sizes for pumping oil in and out, allowing the system to remain closed at all times.
  • Domed Flange Adapter Kits provide a low-profile way to mount a 1” NPT dessicant breather to a hydraulic reservoir.
  • Gearbox Adapter Kits (available in ½”, ¾”, and 1”) allow breathers to be installed on any gearbox, and oil can be pumped in or out without opening the gearbox to the atmosphere. They are a faster, simpler and cleaner way to handle gear oils and reduce ingression.
  • Bayonet Adapters replaced a standard breather cap on a hydraulic reservoir. Simply remove the breather cap, place the adapter on the flange, and rotate.

Deciding Between Permanent and Stationed Filtration

Donaldson Process FiltrationWhile portable and stationed filters operate the same, they can serve different needs for your facility and your business. When you choose the right option, you will be maximizing your return on investment, saving time, and extending the life of your equipment.

Portable Filtration
If your facility has multiple machines that all use the same type of oil, it may be cheaper to buy one cart that can service them all. If your company is new to filtration systems, a mobile filter cart can allow employees to see the benefits of precision lubrication firsthand. This way, the ROI of filtration can be proven internally before committing to more units.
Mobile filter carts, such as ones from Parker and Donaldson Process Filtration, are lightweight and easy to move. This makes them ideal for equipment that isn’t always kept in the same spot.

Stationed Filtration
With filtration units remain in the same place, this helps ensure consistent cleanliness. This is because there is no downtime for contaminants to accumulate when your filter runs continuously. This makes a difference over time, as high contamination levels can cause damage to sensitive machinery.
Additionally, a lower-capacity panel unit can cost less than a more powerful mobile cart system. When you combine this with the savings from continuous filtration, a panel unit is often the best choice for your budget over time.

What to Know About Sick Building Syndrome

HVAC air filtersAccording to Forbes magazine, Americans spend an average of 90% of their time indoors. In the majority of these cases, air quality is far worse inside than it is outside.

“Sick building syndrome” is the name given to a collection of illnesses and symptoms that afflict multiple occupants of a particular building. The symptoms include sinus infections, itchy eyes, scratchy throats, upset stomachs, headaches, difficulty concentrating, and fatigue. Complaints of these symptoms and overall discomfort can be localized in a particular room or office, or can be widespread throughout the building.

If this reminds you of your facility, there are luckily steps you can take to address the problem. Poor IAQ (indoor air quality) is very often the culprit behind SBS, and some initial strategies you can use to address it include:

  • Upgrade all HVAC air filters in your facility from MERV 8 to MERV 11 in order to remove as much particle waste as possible
  • Improve ventilation to provide outside air to occupants and to dilute and/or exhaust pollutants
  • Identify the sources of air pollution, then remove or reduce the source

Greenleaf Filtration is sure to carry the replacement HVAC air filter that meets your needs, regardless of how niche your equipment or industry may be.

Increased filtration media: These new filters feature up to 20 percent more media area than comparable products. You will also notice higher flow rates, lower pressure drop, and longer life.

High-performance materials: All materials used are developed for direct and indirect food contact in order to satisfy regulatory standards/requirements.

Greater stability: The strong support cage of LifeTec® filters resist damage that leads to media failure, thus increasing reliability and reducing costs.

From pre-filtration to final and low capacity to high, Donaldson has the right products to meet your specific needs. All filters also meet U.S. FDA, CFR Title 21 and 1935/2004/EC requirements for food and beverage applications.

The Benefits of Using Sublime Water Scale Solvent

synthetic lubricantsOver time, the operating efficiency of air compressors, heat exchangers, vacuum pumps, boilers, cooling towers and other water-wetted equipment can decline due to the presence of scale deposits. Minerals such as calcium and magnesium compounds from non-distilled water tends to bind to metal, which leads to lime scale build-up and increased power consumption as the equipment is forced to work harder to operate. However, Sublime Water Scale Solvent is available to return any scaled processing equipment you may have in your facility to top operating efficiency.

Save Money
Sublime offers an instant return on your investment. Lime scale is a costly nuisance, but this descaler can be used to avoid production problems. Without the weight of built-up scale to cause bearing failure in rotating equipment such as pumps and mixers, you can evade possible mechanical failure.

Eco-Friendly
Sublime Descaler is easy to use, biodegradable, eco-friendly, and even exceeds government regulations. When used as directed, it is non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-flammable, and non-hazardous.

No Downtime
Because it is so safe and versatile, descaling maintenance done with Sublime can often be performed while a system is still in operation, thus eliminating costly downtime.

Reusable
When Sublime changes to a bluish-purple color, you’ll know when it should be discarded. This way, you won’t spend time circulating a depleted solution. On the other hand, if it remains the pale yellow color, you’ll also know when it can be saved and used again.

At Greenleaf Filtration, our chemical descalers, synthetic lubricants, hydraulic oils and more will effectively help you clean and maintain your product line, thus preventing costly downtime. Learn more about our professional chemical descalers and synthetic lubricants here.

Single vs. Multi Bag Filtration Housings

ADonaldson Process Filtrationt Greenleaf Filtration, we take pride in the ability to identify the needs of our customers, in addition to providing the filtration products that will best fit their needs. This includes a wide variety of bag filter housing options, including single bag housings and multi-bag housings.

While single bag housings only hold one filter bag at a time, multi-bag housings carry more than one bag and are geared for more complex or demanding applications. Multi-bag housings also feature advantages such as higher flow rates and less downtime for bag changes, so you’re not spending your time and money on unnecessary tasks.

Multi bag filter housings are intended for applications where the flow rate is too high for a single bag filter housing. That being said, you may not find that multi-bag housings are needed for your facility. With their simpler design, single bag housings are more economically priced.

Our featured manufacturers (Parker, Knight Corporation, Donaldson Process Filtration, and more) offer bag filter housings that ensure years of consistent performance at competitive prices. We stock filter housings for industrial, chemical, gas, pharmaceutical, and food/beverage applications, in addition to cartridge filters and industrial bag filters. No matter the filtration challenges you may face in your company’s chemical production processes, Greenleaf Filtration can provide the products and knowledge you need to achieve better purity and efficiency.

The Different Levels of Pressure Filters

Donaldson filtration systemsWondering which Donaldson filtration system is right for your business? There are different pressure levels of filters including high, medium, and low. Regardless of the PSI level you are working with, these filters can withstand a wide range of pressures for your convenience.

There are three types of Donaldson Filtration Systems:

·     High Pressure Filters: This type of filter is strategically positioned right in the middle of important components like valves, cylinders, motors, and pumps. They can support pressures up to 6500 PSI.

·     Medium Pressure Filters: These filters can be used in situations where the pressure can reach up to 2000 PSI. Spin-on and inline cartridge-style filters are also available in this level.

·     Low Pressure Filters: Last but not least, this filter is the most common. Low pressure filters can withstand pressures up to 350 PSI. They are often used in hydraulic circuits because of the pressure level.

No matter what type of pressure level you are dealing with, the Donaldson Filtration systems have the right filter for your machinery to run your business. Do not forget to select the one that will withstand the maximum level of PSI for your equipment.
